S'more & Birthday Cake Pudding Shots

Thursday, July 16, 2015

Jello shots have long reigned as the party shot of choice. Yes, they are good. Yes, they are easy. But, we are here to introduce you to pudding shots and they are both delicious and simple. Don't let the name fool you, these versatile dessert type shot have more of a mousse texture than anything, but, they do require pudding to make. I'm always surprised at how many people I've talked to that haven't tried these!

(These tiny shot glasses are so adorable!!)

I've had my eye on the S'more pudding shot recipe for a camping a trip. We looked everywhere for Marshmallow vodka. I even had my mom looking for us. No such luck. So we substituted with Pinnacle's Whipped Cream vodka. If you can find the Fluffed Marshmallow vodka made by Pinnacle and Smirnoff by all means use that. The whipped cream vodka worked as a good substitute if you end up having our luck. Also, we found exactly a 1/2 cup of leftover Iced Cake Smirnoff in the cupboard and it seemed like fate so we also made a batch of Birthday Cake pudding shots.

What You'll Need:

S'more Pudding Shots

- 1 package instant chocolate pudding
- 1 tub Cool Whip
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup Marshmallow vodka
- crushed graham cracker for topping

Birthday Cake Pudding Shots

- 1 package instant vanilla pudding
- 1 tub Cool Whip
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup Iced Cake  Smirnoff vodka
- Sprinkles

Directions:

Mix one package of instant pudding with 3/4 cup milk until smooth. Add 1/2 cup alcohol and mix until smooth. Fold in one tub of Cool Whip. Once smooth chill for 1/2 hour. Once thickened, spoon or pipe the mousse mixture into disposable shot containers with lids. Keep refrigerated!

There are countless flavor combinations for these shots! Be creative! If you are making these for a large group we highly recommend doubling or tripling the recipe! They go quick and each batch only yields about 10-15 shots. Enjoy one for us!

Bomb Pop Punch

Thursday, July 2, 2015

It's that time of year. It's time for the biggest birthday party, ever. This week we are bringing you a festive recipe sure to entertain everyone this holiday weekend. If you're going to a cook-out,  get-together, or even hosting one, this is the perfect addition to your party. It takes two ingredients, it's patriotic, and it's yummy! Grab some extra Popsicles and now your kids are happy. Here's how to do it...

Bomb Pop Punch:

- Pop the bubbly

-Add a Bomb Pop

-Pour the bubbly over top

Seriously, it's that easy. You can use the champagne/sparkling wine of your choice, we opted for a bubbly moscato, because, moscato. Dry champagne really isn't our style.

Happy Birthday,  America!!!

Barefoot's Rich Red Blend

Saturday, June 27, 2015

What is it about rainy days that makes you crave a nice big glass of wine? We aren't sure either, but that's exactly how we spent our rainy Friday night. We've had our eyes on the newest red wine blend by Barefoot and it seemed like the perfect evening to indulge. Go ahead and judge. We are just simple country girls who drink $6 bottles of wine. And, Barefoot happens to be one of our favorite "affordable" wines. I'm pretty balanced on my preferences for wine. I like both red and white pretty equally. Carrie, on the other hand prefers white.  Which could be why we held pretty opposite opinions on this vino.

The Wine:

For starters, this is a semi-astringent wine. It wasn't super dry but it was getting there. Slightly more astringent than Barefoot's Sweet Red blend, which we both like pretty well. The bottle claims, it's "a velvety red wine blend with bold aromas and flavors of blackberries, blueberries, and vanilla. Hints of caramel and oak complement the smooth finish." The strongest flavor for me was the blackberry. Honestly, it isn't something either of us is going to purchase again. But, it's always nice to branch out.

Just like anything else, it's all about preference. If you like more astringent reds, this could totally be your new favorite.

Rosy Cooler

Saturday, June 20, 2015

Angry Orchard is the love of our lives. Seriously. We love Angry Orchard.  We have tried other hard ciders but keep coming back to the full apple beer taste of what we lovingly call "AO". We were delightfully surprised with this cocktail. How could Angry Orchard be more perfect than it already is?! Add vanilla vodka, basil, strawberries, limes, and boom. You have yourself thee most divine drink you can imagine. OH MY GOSH. It's everything! Even our men folk requested a glass which makes this a perfect Father's Day drink! Our guys typically aren't ones for mixed drinks but they loved this!

Rosy Cooler:

- Muddle together one strawberry (cut into quarters), one leaf of basil (cut into strips), and one ounce simple syrup.

- Squeeze in half of a lime into glass, (add squeezed lime to glass)

- One shot vanilla vodka

-Top off with Angry Orchard Crisp.

Shine On and Enjoy!!

Boozy Ice Cream Floats

Monday, June 8, 2015
What goes hand-in-hand better than summer and ice cream?  Not much in our book, except maybe us and a good drink. Here in central Ohio everyone is buzzing about Not Your Father's Root Beer. It tastes just like the soda, but for adults. Add ice cream and you've got yourself an amazing summer cocktail.

As we were planning out our post for the Not Your Father's root beer float, our wheels just got to turning, and we kept thinking of all the other delicious adult floats we could make! The ideas are pretty endless but we chose three to share here.

Not Your Father's Root Beer Float:

- We started by chilling our mason jars in the freezer for about a half hour.

- Scoop in vanilla ice cream

- Slowly pour in the root beer to avoid major fizzing

-Garnish as you please.

Orange Dreamsicle Float:

-Chill glass in freezer for about a half hour

-Add one scoop of vanilla ice cream

- Add two shots of whipped cream vodka

-Fill rest of the way with cold orange soda, pouring slowly.

-Garnish as you please

Jack and Coke Float:

-Chill glass in freezer for about half an hour

-Add one scoop of vanilla ice cream.

- Add one (or two, we don't judge around here) shots of Jack Daniels whiskey

- Slowly fill the rest of the way with cold Coca Cola

-Garnish as you please.

OUR INITIAL EXPERIENCE... We learned the hard way that the ice cream goes in first. Not vice versa. The explosion of fizz was reminiscent of your 7th grade volcano science experiment. Here's the proof.

Not only are these boozy ice cream concoctions ridiculously yummy, they are quick and easy as pie! It's perfect to serve for a group at cook-outs and get-togethers! Also, they can easily be made virgin for any under legal age.
